Rocky Wainwright Memorial Center

The Rocky Wainwright Memorial Center is a ministry center in South India about an hour outside of Chennai. It was built in 2000 and when the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 hit, it was turned into a hub for helping those effected by the tsunami. The waters of the tsunami, which reached 108 feet high and were traveling at approximately 600 miles per hour, miraculously came within 200 feet of the center and then stopped.

From this center we’ve not only been able to distribute blankets, rice, and other food, but WCCM also established a grief counseling center where dozens of people came for several months to receive counseling.
